How am I doing? That is the question I’ve been getting over and over since I dropped off my son two weeks ago for his mission trip. How am I doing? Well I’m doing great. I’ve heard the concerns of those well meaning friends and family and constantly I have mentioned that I have a peace from God that has surrounded me. Today while doing my devotions and listening to a teaching the thing that came over me was that I have trust.

Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
What do I have trust in? Well I have trust in God. I have a trust and a faith that cannot be shaken in regard to this trip. Here are some verses I was looking at this morning that have spoken to me regarding this matter.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:10
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trust in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. Psalm 32:10
Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:3-5
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Proverbs 30:5
When I think and meditate on these truths how can I worry about my son. If I begin to worry or fret that puts into question where my faith is. My faith is in the Lord. My faith is in the one who created the heavens and the earth. My faith is in the God that sent His son to die and raise again so that we may all be saved. My faith is not in man. My faith is not in circumstances or trivial issues. My faith is in Jesus and the blood that was shed.
In contrast many believe in lies such as in Jeremiah 7:8 “Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.” The enemy speaks to us with lies and often times sprinkled with truth in order to breed fear. Fear is not of the Lord, only from the enemy. Yet I’m reminded “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” With God on our sides what do we have to fear.
God’s word also states, “But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:33 For those that don’t know how this trip came about it all came because of the word trust. God spoke to my son to trust Him. This word was not only spoken once but was confirmed many times. When you are doing what God has called you to do there should not be any fear. Yes, I have peace over this trip. But most of all I trust in the Lord.
I also believe and trust, “A faithful man will abound with blessings.” Proverbs 28:20 I’m excited to hear of the blessing that will follow this faithful man of mine.
- Are you trusting God or the world?
- Are you stepping out to where God is calling you?
- Are you worried about what others may think, your own safety, or how you will make it?
- Are you believing what you can see in the natural instead of what God has spoken?
If I can encourage you today in anything, please learn to trust God. He has such amazing adventures awaiting those who will trust in Him. You may not travel half way around the world; however it may be trusting Him for a job, a child, a home, a spouse, a healing, a move, etc. Trusting in God for what we can’t see is how faith works and He will bless you when you step out.
Prayer: Jesus help us to trust you for things that seem impossible. Help us to step out and do what you have called us to. Help us to trust you in all times. Thank you that Your word is a light to our steps and that we can put our trust in Your promises. Thank you that we are blessed and not cursed. Thank you that you go before us and protect us from the enemy. Thank you that we can see truth in situations that the enemy tries to speak lies over. Thank you for loving us enough to die for us so that we could have life and to have it to the abundance. ~Amen
