Reading: Hebrews 11
The Word is Jesus
As I began to read today the first thing I noticed is that God is speaking in these last days to us by His Son, “Whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:2) Jesus is heir of ALL things and was the one who made the world. He is the Son of God and it is by Him and through Him that we are saved. This brings me back to John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
We can interchange Jesus with the Word in scripture. In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. Likewise, our passage from today, in these last days spoken to us by His Word. His Word is Jesus, His Son. Based on these two passages alone it shows the importance of Jesus, the Word, that has been given to us. There is power in His Word and in His name. We should not take this lightly or think of it as little importance.
Jesus made us Righteous
For we are told, “when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they” (Hebrews 1:3-4) He has a more excellent name. His name is Jesus. In fact, the angels are to worship Him. He is now seated by the Father, because of all that He came to accomplish is now finished. He had told the disciples it was better for them that He leave, so they would receive the comforter, the Holy Spirit, who will guide us into truth. (John 16:13)
Jesus’ throne is forever and ever, and a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of His kingdom (Hebrews 1:8). Jesus’ scepter is righteousness. As I sit thinking; a scepter is a rod or staff used to reveal authority and sovereignty. So, righteousness is what His kingdom will be known for. He has made us righteous, because of the faith we have in Him. He became sin for us, so that we would be made righteous. That is powerful. To think of what Jesus had to go through so that His kingdom would be known as a righteous kingdom. Wow!
Ministering Spirits
The final question asked here makes me so excited. “Are they (talking of the angels) not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvations?” (vs. 14) These ministering spirits are still at work here today. They are sent to minister to you and me, no matter if we believe or not. They are sent to minister to those that will inherit the kingdom even before we come to have a relationship with Jesus. Now that is powerful. Therefore, if you are praying for those that are lost, I would encourage you to ask that angels be sent to minister to those you have been praying over. That is a part of the assignment they are given.
My prayer today is that whatever need you have today the angels would go and minister to you or on your behalf to those you are praying for. I pray you know, “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we must call to those angels to minister in the areas we cannot see. God is working when we cannot see. However, we must believe and know the enemy we are fighting is not one another but spiritual host sent by Satan to do his bidding. But God has commanded us to, “submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) We must do our part and resist but we cannot do that without first submitting our lives to Him. I pray you would submit your entire life today if you haven’t already. You will become righteous because Jesus died to bring you into His Kingdom. He knows you and loves you and wants you to be a part of His family.
